Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are you a franchise?
A. No. We do not have to pay a high franchise fee which is how we are able to offer such low prices. We are a Michigan based company with local employees. We circulate all profits right back into your community.
Q. Does my dog waste really need to be picked up?
A. Absolutely. Contrary to popular belief, dog waste is NOT a good fertilizer. Besides causing an unsightly yard, dog waste is dangerous to you, your kids, your guests, and your pets. It also kills your green grass the longer it sits and contaminates our waterways with bacteria and disease.
Q. Do you sanitize tools between yards?
A. Our Scoop Techs do a thorough cleaning of our tools and shoes after each yard to prevent bacteria from spreading between clients. We use a bleach solution to clean our tools and shoes. Dog Waste carries parasites such as Hook and Round Worm which can be potentially dangerous for you and your pets.
Q. How often does our company come out?
A. Most of our customers prefer once a week service. We also scoop twice a week, three times a week, every other week, or once a month. One time service is also available. Please note that we will clean your yard on your service day, but we can not guarantee the same time every visit; our schedules and routes are constantly changing.
Q. What happens if the weather is bad?
A. We work in just about any weather condition. However, in the event of a blizzard, freezing temps, lightning, severe thunderstorm, etc. we will do our best to re-schedule your scoop within the same week. If we can not make-up the work that week, the extra waste will be cleaned up on your next scheduled visit.

Q. What happens if Scoops Co. needs to cancel my scheduled scoop?
A. If your scoop is cancelled due to a Scoops Co. scheduling conflict, it is guaranteed to be made up within the same week or you will receive a credit for a free scoop on your next invoice.

Q. What about winter?
A. Yes, we scoop all year round, including the winter. Michigan has a high freeze/thaw frequency. Scooping in the winter helps to prevent your dog’s paws from tracking waste into your home. It also keeps the snowman your kids want to build waste free! On rare occasions snow may postpone service temporarily, but dogs continue doing their business all year long and so do our Scoop Techs.
Q. What about the Holidays?
A. In the event that your scheduled scoop falls on a holiday, it will be completed the day before or after.
Q. Should I unlock my gate?
A. Yes. Since employees are not to climb or jump over fences, please have your gate unlocked on your service day. You may provide us with a key to the lock if that will be convenient for you. Please note that we are not responsible for a missed scoop due to our Scoop Tech's inability to access your property.
Q. Can we work with the dog in the yard?
A. Absolutely! At Scoops Co. we are dog lovers! If your dogs are friendly and will allow strangers in your yard, then yes we can work around your dogs. If your dogs show any signs of aggression, we can not work with them in your yard. Please have them out of your yard on your scheduled scoop day. Please note that we are not responsible for a missed scoop due to an aggressive dog on your property.
Q. What if I want to skip a day, or go on vacation?
A. Please call us at least a week in advance, so we do not come to your property. You will be able to freeze your account and schedule a scoop date to re-activiate it. You will be charged if you do not notify us in advance and our Scoop Tech comes to your property.
Q. Do I have to sign a contract?
A. Service can be started or stopped at any time, there are no contracts to sign unless there is a special promotion or discount that requires it. We have a Terms of Service agreement for you to sign acknowledging you have read and understand how our service works and its requirements.
Q. When do I pay?
A. Our services are billed in advance on a monthly basis. For those just starting regular scoop service, payment is due prior to the first scheduled scoop of the month (pro-rated if sign-up is not at the beginning of the month). We will then e-mail invoices towards the end of every month for payment. For a Spring clean-up or One-time clean, payment is due the day-of when the cleaning is completed.
A $10.00 late fee applies to all unpaid invoices by the due date. There is returned check fee of $35.00.
Q. How can I pay?
A. We accept cash during the time of service or you can pay through your invoice online with a credit card or bank payment.
Q. Do you have a referral program?
A. Have you ever thought, "If I could only turn my dog's poop into money?" Well now you can! Scoops Co. offers a $15 credit towards your services for every referral that signs up for a recurring scoop service.
Here's how it works: For every referral you send to Scoops Co. we will issue a one-time credit to your bill for $15 as long as they sign up for a recurring scoop service.
What happens when I refer enough people to bring my monthly bill to $0? Let's say your monthly bill is $45 and you refer 4 people. $15 for 4 referrals equals $60. Therefore, not only would you receive free scoop services for one month, but you would also receive a $15 credit towards the following month! You continue to be eligible as long as new referrals sign-up.
